Saheli - HIV/AIDS Karyakarta Sangh

Founded in 1998, Saheli - HIV/AIDS Karyakarta Sangh is a community-based Female Sex Workers Collective based in Pune. It is committed to creating a conducive environment where all stigma and discrimination against sex workers and people affected by HIV/AIDS are eliminated. With a rights-based approach, Saheli advocates for social inclusion for sex workers.
From a team of 9, today, Saheli has grown to over 1,500 members, and the foundation has successfully empowered over 1,000 women. Besides, it is the only collective spread across 12 districts in Maharashtra. The Villoo Poonawalla Foundation supports Saheli’s efforts to empower women, promote gender equality, and create an inclusive society.
Through our collective efforts, we also enable employment opportunities, reduce vulnerability, and improve the overall well-being of women.
