About Us
Dr. Cyrus S. Poonawalla founded the Villoo Poonawalla Foundation in 2012 to carry forward the legacy of Mrs. Villoo C. Poonawalla. Over the years, we have worked with several local partners, industry peers, and supported organizations like IDCA (Indian Deaf Cricket Association). We also back NGOs like Saheli and Muskaan, and remain committed to uplifting transgender communities.

Our Events
Jamie Lever Nite
On 16th October, 2026, the Villoo Poonawalla Foundation supported “Jamie Lever Nite” organized by Alert-India. Led by Jamie Lever, a performer and mimicry artist, at the Nehru Centre Auditorium, Mumbai, the event brought audiences together to back the organisation’s leprosy control and rehabilitation work. The evening drew several partners, well-wishers, and supporters for the cause, including Serum Institute of India, ESSCO by Jaquar Group, and UPL Ltd. Through their joint efforts, the Villoo Poonawalla Foundation and Alert-India remain committed to helping those affected by leprosy through awareness, early case detection, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Inauguration of the SNDT Hostel, Pune
With support from the Villoo Poonawalla Foundation, SNDT Women’s University renovated and inaugurated its Pune Campus’ girls' hostels on 7th September 2026. Mr. Jaswinder Narang, Dr. Aparna Bhave, and Dr. Ujwala Chakradeo, among others, attended the ceremony, which also included the unveiling of busts honouring the late Smt. Villoo Poonawalla and Smt. Anandibai (Baya Karve). The joint efforts of the Villoo Poonawalla Foundation and SNDT Women’s University transformed the hostel’s sanitation, infrastructure, and living conditions. The initiative furthered the foundation’s commitment to support young women with the right learning environment and to help them reach their full potential.

Inauguration of Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla High School & Junior College in Naigaon, Pune
On 14th August, the Villoo Poonawalla Foundation inaugurated Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla High School & Junior College with Round Table India. With their joint venture, the school’s infrastructure and learning facilities received a massive overhaul. The institution can now support over 1,500 students, strengthening access to quality education for more than 10 surrounding villages. The inauguration event brought together stakeholders, school representatives, students, and partners to mark the milestone.
